Relephant's Post-Promos Activity !

Wooooot! Posting after sucha long haul cos the much dreaded Promotional Exams, Chinese 'A' Levels and the Project Work Oral Presentation. :'(

I think after going through all of those grueling and energy-draining shit, my life has shortened by like a few years lor. Some days when things get really busy, I feel as if I am just 'floating' by, acting and behaving sub-consciously.

Like now, after my Oral Presentation! Got it over today, FINALLY. Hopefully it will turn out okay *Cross Fingers*

Anyway have been out with Eleanore and Rui Wen after the promos. :D

Feel quite bad for post-poning or even not going out with them to IKEA, get gifts etc, etc and etc. Cos sometimes out of the busy schedule and sometimes I just need to rest at home. :(

It's so not like back then in the lovely secondary school days when I can just EASILY go out with my friends as and when we like luh. JC life is damn busy be it a long day or short day, interesting lectures or boring ones.

Next.

We went to Hot Tomato Cafe at Somerset313 the other day and it was pretty awesome. It's more like an overall feel, besides the food. Cos the cafe itself has this Tomato-ish designs and furnishings that make you feel more comfortable.

Ruiwen and Eleanore. Their birthdays are like really close to one another's and it feels so weird planning for their birthdays - concurrently. Hahhas! Hopefully both of you like your gifts! :D

I love this sort of chairs. Absolutely. You can lean your body on it and it gives you lotsa privacy.

The food arrived shortly afterwards. Its not cos their service was excellent or anything but it's becos we reached there at 11am. Talk about "kiasu-ism"!

Tomato Soup. Which I don't really like. I prefer authentic Chinese soup. * Woots can't wait to get to China on the 28th Dec! *

My Dory Fillet!

And the the yellow drink - lime juice - was mine! But right, the drink came with a piece of lemon. Is it me or do lime juices normally come with lemons?

Eleanore's dory fillet. Dory fishes are yummy max. The smooth and pristine white meat, notwithstanding its boneless-ness, is so easy to eat.

My favourite craving is Pasta Mania's Dory Zuppa with lotsa cheese. I have been ordering it every time I visit pasta mania and seriously, I have not gotten tired of it yet.

I look tired, exhausted, frail, cos of the hectic work schedule. And maybe some dust mites. -_-

Okay, another failed attempt at dripping the lemon juice. :(

And I found out why people usually put rice with salt. It is just to keep the salt fresh by sacrificing the rice to absorb the moisture on its behalf. Sounds very Chemistry to me. Haven't touched it for almost a year. :x

It looked exquisite and as usual, empty. I guess people don't shop at cold storage in the afternoon.

Yes, it was during the Halloween period and we were so crazy enough to play with their masks. It was CRAZYYY.

As it's nearing the year end and I believe many of you will be attending many camps, school camps, cca camps, church camps, so on..

So I thought it was highly important,

Highly Important

for you guys to take note why you MUST remember to bring your slippers to camp.

I have been to many camps to, and always, without fail, somewhere on the to-bring-list, there will be 'Slippers'.

And sometimes it gets troublesome to lug a slipper with you when you go to camps la. Its like extra baggage and if it's like a 2-day-1-night camp, you will only get to use the slipper, like, ONCE.

But there's definitely a compelling reason for you to bring your slippers if you don't want to be infected with this highly infectious fungi that causes

Its like so invisible to the human eye right! Imagine if your friend, schoolmate or even camp-mate, who you don't know, has this foot fungus and because of your negligence of not wearing slippers, you're INFECTED with it. And pass on the fungi to your family members etc,etc.

Look at the chain of events that may take place! It's totally not worth it.

Another mind-blowing robotic movie is coming your way!

Fighting packed. Camaraderie.

Sci-fi Plot.

What more can you ask?!

In fact, this movie genre is one of the best to watch it with your friends!

Its not too serious, not too much of a joke or anything awkward.

A Kinder-Joy robot! Nice?! :'D

Took it from Wilson actually, it was nearly thrown away. Thankfully, I found some use for it! ^_^

If I have a robot, the robot would be designed to be a pocket size one so I can lug it around everywhere I go, interchangeable LED light display so it will be outstanding and attractive for a long time and most importantly it must be useful la!

I find it pointless to have large robots taking up small while doing stuffs like talking when the speeches and everything else is programmed. So for now, a small Robot will do!

Useful in ways such as taking pictures, used as a phone, mp3, have a fast software, playable (apps and everything).

May be quite simple but oh well!

Mini-achievable-goals beat extreme ones anytime!

At the very least, I may end up having a robot-designed handphone lor! :P

Better than waiting 100 years for some breakthrough technology!

Hmm,

So the movie Real Steel is not about my plastic robot fighting the metal robot ...

No, not this!

Rather, it means robot taking over the roles of Boxers to fight, eliminating possible severe injuries to the bodies.

Looks like the ones who created Xbox Kinect and Wii are really good at imagining stuffs! Now, even movies are using their concepts!

But if you watch the trailer in the later part of the post, you will realise that this movie has a rather satisfying moral behind it, its like the importance of trust, faith, friendships, bonds, among others.

That's why I have said that it's a good movie to watch with your friends!

Fighting movies are always inspiring, people's dreams, determination, will and courage are always displayed! How motivating can it get!

*Hopefully it turns out as good as The Karate Kid! Plays Justin Bieber's Never Say Never in the background!*

But in any case, this story talks about how this supposedly famous boxer losing all his fame and started his comeback with the help of the robot and a kid!

Here's the synopsis! Pretty Lengthy so highlight the below section only if you wish to read it!

A gritty, white-knuckle, action ride set in the near-future, where the sport of boxing has gone hi-tech, “Real Steel” stars Hugh Jackman as Charlie Kenton, a washed-up fighter who lost his chance at a title when 2000-pound, 8-foot-tall steel robots took over the ring. Now, nothing but a small-time promoter, Charlie earns just enough money piecing together low-end bots from scrap metal to get from one underground boxing venue to the next. Recently, I have been watching quite a few movies, to be exact, 4 movies, in a short span of 7 days. I didn't plan to do a movie review at first but then as the number of movies-watched increase, I thought it would be quite a good idea to do so.

Okay la, better than not posting anything.

-Digress-

And exams are coming way soon! After my exams I might be able to blog more if project work and Chinese A lvls preparation do not eat in too much of my weekend time. Cos on weekdays, its really shagged, be it a short day or a long day and will have to slog till late at night doing homework or revising. And its only like last week I went to watch so many movies lor :(

-End of digression-

After watching Johnny English Reborn, Contagion, Fright Night and Smurf, I find Contagion to best and the most value-for-money to watch. Its like a highly intelligent thriller that is scripted in a possible real world scenario. And the best part is that even without any action, it is able to make you all tensed up in your seat while uncovering the way to fight the disease. (Will talk more about it later on!)

So, first up, in no particular order, we have ...

Johnny English Reborn!

Mr Bean starring in it. I will give it a 3.3 star movie. Its a comedy and people actually laughed at several occasions but it's superficial jokes to me lor. (Even pink panther 2 was better, better plot and better laughable scenes)

For this movie, some parts even seem illogical.

But still, Mr Bean's outrageously funny! :D

Next, Smurfs!

Its more suited for the kids, a 3.5 star movie to me. Its pretty cool to see the Smurfs work together and cooperate but the overall plot is only average. Maybe, just catch it on the tv screen next year! :P

98 Smurfs and 1 Smurfette. wow.

Here comes the jewel of today's blog entry, Contagion! A 4 star movie cos of the ending and lack of action.

Its really awesome as aforementioned and when I went for supper after this going-to-midnight-movie, I actually diligently washed my hand thoroughly before and after eating. I was so affected that I brought my own utensils to school. And I am still bringing it. (Talking about it, it is kinda useful ya'know, besides its guaranteed cleanliness, I will be able to cut my food properly especially when I am served with plastic utensils.)

And really really, it's a super cool movie.

Realistic, thrilling and highly intelligent. It is so just so real!

But honestly speaking, bringing your own utensils won't make you immune to diseases either.

The other reason why I brought my own utensils was because I have worked in the F&B industry before and somehow, the way the utensils are washed is really .. not clean. Especially when you have a low-paid foreign worker washing them for the sake of - washing them. :3

Lastly, we have Fright Night! An action-packed NC16 thriller.

That was not too bad I guess. Watched it at The Cathay and the seats there were so soft and comfy. And the best part was the recently opened School of The Arts beside The Cathay building.

It was picturesquely beautiful! With roof-top gardens, grey buildings ... Thinking of it makes me want to go back there again!

Back to the movie, I thought one of its character, Peter Vincent, a splendid actor. He also acted in one of the Harry Potters' series!

Don't know if you know him, but at first I thought he was Johnny Depp. -_-

but it turned out to be another person.

The movie was around a 3.5 star movie as well. Do catch it if you have the time!

Fright Night! [Coming Soon]

I is a vampire too. A Chinese one.

Anyway, Fright Night which will be out in the cinemas on 22 September 2011, seems really impressive. In terms of the graphics and plot (a slight twist compared to the usual romance genre).

Definitely better than some poorly made up vampire movies, like Vampire Assistants in 2009. It was ultimately crappish!

The Plot Goes Like This ...

Senior Charlie Brewster (Anton Yelchin) finally has it all—he’s running with the popular crowd and dating the hottest girl in high school. In fact, he’s so cool he’s even dissing his best friend Ed (Christopher Mintz-Plasse).

But trouble arrives when an intriguing stranger Jerry (Colin Farrell) moves in next door. He seems like a great guy at first, but there’s something not quite right—and everyone, including Charlie’s mom (Toni Collette), doesn’t notice.

After witnessing some very unusual activity, Charlie comes to an unmistakable conclusion: Jerry is a vampire preying on his neighborhood. Unable to convince anyone that he’s telling the truth, Charlie has to find a way to get rid of the monster himself in this Craig Gillespie-helmed revamp of the comedy-horror classic.

Moon Cakes

As you guys know, after the Ghost Festival or, the 7th Lunar Month, it is the Mooncake season! Around this time, stalls and shops will be offering different types of mooncakes and I love it!

Just a while ago I finished up a Durian Mooncake! It was nice! At least something new to treat your taste buds.

And look!

My grand-aunt just came and gave me this box of mooncakes from Bangawan Solo. Actually, for my greatgrand mother. :(

I think we can share. Hahaha! :D

To be frank right, I find Bangawan Solo's offerings okay only leh! Do you guys feel the same way? D:

And it seems a little over-rated at times.

But nevertheless, mooncakes are awesome! :))

Many love the Internet, some love watching television programmes, others prefer reading but I am very sure that there is a group, like me, who is into watching anime and read manga.

I am like a big fan of those Japanese animes and mangas simply because their plot is amazingly well-planned and flawless. As long as the director is good, nothing can go wrong!

So unlike TV shows which are unable to bring out the feelings of the characters or the all-important story line behind it.

For those who are wondering,

I am now reading Skip Beat Manga! For quite awhile already. And it is one of the main reasons why I chose to blog once again! (highly inspiring and motivational)

If you have the luxury of time, I would highly recommend reading it.

If you guys youtube her up, you will find that Nicole's hair is amazing. The curly mane she has is one of her most striking appearance.

Not all politicians are like this. More often than not, they look amazingly like clones. Take a glance at China's Hu Jintao and Wen Jiabao.

Certainly is quite a devoted politician and a publicly active one - to endorse Tan Jee Say for Presidency not too long ago.

From how things are going, I can feel that the political scene in Singapore is getting very interesting. It is ACTUALLY far deeper than what it seems.

Feeling unjust over some of the comments made in the above youtube video about PAP's refusal to comment.

It is nothing political but sometime, I wonder, have they heard of the famous Taoist saying of "wu wei wu" or "Action without Action"?

Definition: The problem is that people are not inanimate objects. When we try to control them (action, wei) they react and often retaliate. So our action creates a neutralizing reaction. If we understand the Tao, we can act according to its principles, avoiding the resistance of people and working with the support of the law of nature rather than against it.

Let's see who will get the last laugh!

Earth Hour 2011 - 26 March !

I think I have eco-friendly genes flowing through my veins. And every time there's an Earth Hour campaign, I will, without fail, participate in it la. For the good of humanity, the animals, insects, reptiles, who co-exist together with us ...

And recently, I have began on my own to reduce carbon emissions (hopefully *crosses fingers*) by green-nifying my room. To do so, I bought quite a few species of air plants ( costs me more than $50! ) that grew pretty well beside my window. (A good option for those who do not have a garden)

Contrary to popular beliefs, airplants do not respire during the night and compete with you for oxygen. They are like cactus with this CAM ability. In fact they will take in carbon dioxide during the night!

Crassulacean acid metabolism, also known as CAM photosynthesis, is a carbon fixation pathway present in some plants. These plants fix carbon dioxide (CO₂) during the night, storing it as the four-carbon acid malate. The CO₂ is released during the day. The CAM pathway allows stomata to remain shut during the day, reducing evapotranspiration; therefore, it is especially common in plants adapted to arid conditions.

Initially I only bought 1 air plant but after researching about it online, I got a sudden craving for air plants that lead to a lot more purchases. But I didn't regret it, since all are still living and most importantly, thriving. :)

I shall show you people the pictures that tempted me. Which I bet most of you will be tempted as well!

I thought this arrangement was rather interesting as it maximises the use of space along the HDB corridors. Just imagine, if everyone does this, wouldn't the corridors be much cooler?

Some of the baby airplants (offsets) which, I presume, was the fruit of minimal care. Yes, minimal care. (Cos for my case, I simply soaked mine in a tub of water for a couple of hours per week, with water misting when I have nothing better to do)

There are many many different forms of airplants. The advice is to choose the form and colour that you like. They don't have much colours though. Google it to find out more!

Okayy, enough of air plants. You can always buy them in the push carts around the malls or nurseries!

Dear Diary,

I got posted to Tampines Junior College instead of my supposed Singapore Polytechnic's International Business. Argh. But wait. What pissed me off more was that someone I know actually appealed from that course over to TPJC. Shouldn't he do that like, FROM THE BEGINNING?!

Dang.

Then again, during my working days at Sakae Sushi Whitesands and ITE College West, I missed studying, I missed my friends, teachers and Hai Sing Catholic's culture. Working kills. Its about a direct trade between your time and money. Goodness. So, for those for are currently studying, like me, do enjoy every bit of your learning journey. You will definitely miss it once you graduate. In fact, studying has never been as boring as work. Never.
(You can thank me after you realise the importance!)

Today, I got appointed as the Class Group Rep. That means I will have to do all the mundane work from today onwards. Great. CG Rep, General paper Rep, Librarian and Interact Club. That's is so not a lot. Prays, crosses fingers, closes eyes, claps, kicks, that it will turn out fine.

Oh! I need to get some water!

My Oysters' History !!

I am a huge fan of oysters. When I was younger, I love eating oyster omelette that is a Chinese dish of Teochew/Fujian origin.( I am still loving it! )

I am pretty sure, some of you love them as well! After all, its a common food whereby any (Tom, Dick or Harry can have them).

Yea, but still, I LOVE IT.

I ate both the traditional ones and the modernised ones.

Traditional Oyster Eggs - The sticky, gluey flour with the oysters. ( Too much of it makes the food yucky. That's why we should eat everything in moderation)

Personally, I prefer the less sticky ones, which are the ones you see nowadays.

Modernised Oyster Eggs - This one is rareeee. I have yet to find the same one in Sg. Its the crispy version of Oyster Eggs which just a thin crust of egg spread out like a ? (Roti Prata) ?

But trust me, its awesome. Ate it along the streets of KL, i don't know which street but it should be quite a popular one. So perhaps just try your luck finding it! (And its worth the find! My record was 3 plates of it! Well, because it is oily, you can't eat too much! )

Taiwan Version !

Taiwan is like a land inhabited by oysters. Just like SG being a strategic trading hub, Taiwan is an oyster hub. Maybe Im wrong but from my experience, the oysters there are so freaking huge and plentiful! Well, for those with a sweet tooth, you will like the Taiwan version more. Instead of the usual chili sauce, a special Taiwanese sweet sauce will be used. And every bit of the omelette, you will find oysters, dead ones of course, laying there. Its either Taiwanese are more generous than Sgreans, or the oysters there are so friggin cheap that they can give you lotsa oysters. Perhaps both!

I have also tried the oyster soup in Taiwan! Well, I find the herbal ginseng soup nicer. The oyster soup is like boiled water + lots and lots of oysters. Thats' all. So is it worth? decide for yourself.

But now, in Singapore, I found,

Oyster Fried Kuay Tiao Mee!

Yes, and its affordable!

Get it at China Town if you're interested. Maybe after CNY Shopping or something.

So yes, its like an added milestone to my oyster journey. :d

Feng Shui !

For my first re-launch post, it will be on the topic of Feng Shui. (Do not undermine it though, but for haters, please do and hopefully all the bad luck will go to you! )

I have taken a liking for unexplained theories such as Feng Shui and had just started reading more about it. Actually Feng Shui is a rather wide topics. Some of it borders along the line of superstitions while the main bulk of it is about the placement of furnitures, layouts and concepts. Its simply about the way of living.

Just like when you enter a school, You will have to walk past the Guard Post first, instead of a classroom right !

AHA.

That's Feng Shui cos it increases the school's security. I believe that some practices are so common that sometimes we just don't think about what things are done is a certain way.

Some may find Feng Shui as bullshit or just another scam/crap, etc. Well, my advice would be just to take everything as a pinch of ~~salt~~ sugar.

"As far as Feng Shui is concerned, many people use it, but only a very few admit to doing so." I muttered !

So perhaps, you should now be wary of people who condemns Feng Shui as superstitions so that you will NOT use it but they will, on the other hand, use it discreetly on their own to improve their own life! These hypocrites should just vanish!

But at least now you know I am not one ! :D

Okay, so yeah. In my findings, I will tell you more about some Lucky Omens of Good Fortune.

When Bird Droppings Land On Your Head
Many people believe this to be a major sign of wealth coming from heaven. Hence, although, it is really yucky and a major inconvenience, when something like this happens to you, take comfort in the fact that this is described as good luck being just around the corner! In fact, most things associated with birds tend to spell good fortune, such as when birds fly to your home and start making nests in and around your house. While bats bring abundance, birds bring good news and opportunities. The next time a flock of ravens, pigeons or magpies come to your home, feed them with bird seeds. Birds are also said to be powerful protectors and guardians. Even crows are said to be messengers of the Gods. So welcome birds with open arms.

- I have one such experience before, many many years ago! I was boarding the bus and in just that small space between the bus-stop shelter and the bus, a bird dropping just miraculously dropped onto my head. (I didn't think of it as a good luck then. But I wonder if I would want them now...)

Meeting Up With A Snake
Is another sign of good fortune. Whether in your garden, inside the home, or out trekking, if you meet up with a snake, it means something or someone important is coming into your life. Never ever try to harm or kill a snake when confronted with one. The more poisonous the snake, the better is the good fortune. The king cobra is described as a snake of extreme good fortune. Whatever you do, never kill a snake as they are also associated with some spiritual presence. They usually slither away themselves when they sense human presence.

When Your Hands Tingle
It is a sure sign that money is either coming to you or leaving you! The general consensus is that when it is your left hand that tingles, money is coming to you – the 4-digit kind or winning a lottery. When it is the right hand, it means money is leaving you. The same interpretation is also placed on hands that suddenly start to itch. If your left palm starts to itch, mercilessly rejoice. It means you are about to come into a windfall!

- You know sometimes, your hand experience some sort of muscle spasm, it should be that feeling!

When A Butterfly Flies Into Your House
This is commonly interpreted to mean that you are about to receive some important guests. If the butterfly has bright colours, it means the visitor will bring good news relating to your love life. If the butterfly is dark – almost black – the visitor is bringing you good news related to your career or business. Never chase a fluttering butterfly out of your house. They almost always bring good tidings. Do not try to catch it, as inadvertently killing a butterfly causes your good luck to change into bad luck.

When A Cat Comes Into Your House
It usually means some kind of bad luck. Usually black cats signify treachery and betrayal, so it is better to chase them away. White cats signify death, but some say that golden cats signify good luck hidden in bad luck. In the old days cats were often associated with witchcraft and bad omens.

If You Put On Your Clothes The Wrong Way Round
This is said to be a sign of extreme good fortune. It doesn’t count if you do this on purpose, but if for some reason you wear your clothes the wrong way round, it indicates that you will shortly receive some windfall or some very favourable news. This is a particularly good omen for those who have been suffering a spate of bad luck, as it suggests that your luck is about to change for the better.

I would like to write out my immense feelings for the teachers and classmates of 4E2.

Teachers:

Many of you have had several years of wisdom and experience in the teaching industry. This was certainly our blessing. Thank you so much. Instead of being authoritative figures, you were collaborators of education instead, this was what students both love and would have longed for.

Should I start from the way you prayed for us during our darkest moments with tears collecting in your eyes? The candy treats you gave us to perk us up during lessons, the way you took care of our well being by treating us breakfast and lunch with McDonalds and Pizzas (esp. Mrs Wong) or should I start with your generous sponsorship of class events during the holidays?

Digressing... : To me, I feel that the saying, " To be successful, you have to be a doctor, a lawyer, ..." is wrong.

As a doctor, your main priority is to save and alleviate the lives of people and cure them from illnesses. As lawyers, you are the defenders of justice and should you defend the evil because of money?

How could one do the right thing if one regards money highly?

(E.g. If you are a doctor, could you turn down a poor patient because he/she had no money to pay for their medical bills?)

Similarly, I find that 4E2 was blessed with wonderful teachers who was there not for money but to make sure that we were educated. For this, I find your teaching admirable and honorable.

Classmates of 4E2:

If we can take as little as a minute to make friends, then through the period of 365 (525 600 minutes), we have been more than what ordinary friends are.

We had went through camps, school activities, school competitions, learning journeys, carnival (only 1), I am sure we had lotsa fun together, sticking through thick and thin.

Jokes and laughter often filled the class and whenever someone laughs (Most of the time), we would all laugh together. It was as if our emotions were connected via the same vein.

We had so much fun going out together, NDP, fireworks, chalet, movies, etc.

I would not say that our class in unique but instead, extraordinary, as we were able to foster great bonds in class. We would always provide care and concern those those who were feeling down and share the joys of those feeling happy.

Perhaps, it was my karma that brought me into such a wonderful class and I would never forget these memories. Thank you 4e2. ;D

Thích Quảng Đức was his name.

He was a Vietnamese Mahayana Buddhist monk who burned himself to death at a busy Saigon road intersection on 11 June 1963 to protest against the prosecution of his kind, the Buddhists, by South Vietnam's Ngô Đình Diệm administration.

To be frank, I don't even know about this unfortunate event until today.

Before I continue, I believe you will want to know about his last words and what the witnesses have to say about him.

The last words of Thích Quảng Đức before his self-immolation were documented in a letter he had left:

Before closing my eyes and moving towards the vision of the Buddha, I respectfully plead to President Ngo Dinh Diem to take a mind of compassion towards the people of the nation and implement religious equality to maintain the strength of the homeland eternally.

And from a witness, David Halberstam,

I was to see that sight again, but once was enough. Flames were coming from a human being; his body was slowly withering and shriveling up, his head blackening and charring. In the air was the smell of burning human flesh; human beings burn surprisingly quickly. Behind me I could hear the sobbing of the Vietnamese who were now gathering. I was too shocked to cry, too confused to take notes or ask questions, too bewildered to even think... As he burned he never moved a muscle, never uttered a sound, his outward composure in sharp contrast to the wailing people around him.

Police who tried to reach him could not break through the circle of Buddhist clergy. One of the policemen threw himself to the ground and prostrated himself in front of Thích Quảng Đức in reverence. The spectators were mostly stunned into silence, but some wailed and several began praying. Many of the monks and nuns, as well as some shocked passersby, prostrated themselves before the burning monk.

After his death, his body was re-cremated, but his heart remained intact. This was interpreted as a symbol of compassion and led Buddhists to revere him as a bodhisattva, heightening the impact of his death on the public psyche.

I believe the picture alone shows how dire the situation is, for one to resort to self-immolation. Also, while his cells were being consumed by the flames mercilessly, he kept still. Not a single movement nor any sign of regret.

He was calmly seated in the traditional Buddhist meditative lotus position on the cushion throughout the entire self-sacrificial process.

What strikes me was the fact that other monks also wanted to do the same but Thích Quảng Đức's seniority prevailed

As I come to think of it, I feel that Singapore is really a great place to be in. I wonder how depressing life would be to see monks like him (or even other people), light themselves in flames so as to bring about religion equality and peace. (Like what this monk did)

Itachi has a rather composed appearance and he rarely shows any emotion even if he feels surprised or irritated. In the Naruto Series, Itachi is a well-known ninja for his skills and techniques.

I feel that he is an awesome character in the anime. Although he may look evil or do evil stuffs, he is actually good in the end. Okay. I give up. I don't know what I am saying. :(

On our way back from tuition, Joelle and I was strolling along this huge pathway and we spotted this amazingly wide and slender rainbow. Like finally.

It has been ages since I last saw a rainbow. The longest streak I ever had seeing rainbows was back then in 2003. 7 years ago! I remembered seeing 4~5 of it then.

Well, seeing a rainbow is definitely a good sign.

To see a rainbow in a dream, is prognostic of unusual happenings. Affairs will assume a more promising countenance, and crops will give promise of a plentiful yield.

The rainbow I saw yesterday seems to be hanging quite low so I think it is of the 3rd interpretation where it signifies unconditional success in any undertaking. ( It has to be cos there is no other interpretation of rainbow hanging high up in the sky. )

So I wish that all my blog readers will also see a rainbow and hopefully, find their pot of gold. And of course, I hope that I will find the biggest pot.

Watched Toy Story 3 with Cadence today and it was fantastic. In fact it really shows us the 'life' of a toy and it isn't great at all cos your owners will get sick and tired of you one day, chunk you aside and that's the end. Your destiny is sealed.

The movie showed great teamwork between the toys and how they overcome their difficulties while trying to escape from the daycare and get back to where they belong.

Plus it showcases the importance of not judging the book by its cover and the evil ones will always get their well-deserved retribution.

Do catch it if you have the time to as good movies like this shouldn't be missed. (Feels that I have watched many bad movies this year. Finally a good one)

1. Mr Surin has left the school. (As if who doesn't knows that by now.)

2. The school's computers in the library for student users should be the HP Compaq dc7600 Convertible Minitower PC, Pentium D processor. What Hai Sing school has mentioned about an interactive media interface of some sort is partially true, what I call as an interactive relic in an air-conditioned museum.

3. Library books are unchanged. Straight to the point. No need to think of any suiting vocabulary.

4. Ancient relic piece #2: The (ex-)Grand Piano in the hall that hasn't been tuned for a millennium, I suppose.

5. The Hai Noodle Stall, or simply fisball noodle stall, serves mostly 'wonton' noodles without wonton, 'fishball' noodles without fishballs. A title fitting its flavour indeed.

Just now, I went to Youtube to search for some Chinese News videos so that I can improve my Chinese. Then, I came across this extremely touching video about last year's China, Wenchuan Earth Quake.

When the news reporters read out the rising number of deaths and casualties, their eyes turned pinkish red and their voice changed. They were overwhelmed with the huge numbers. Lives were being lost not 1 by 1 nor 2 by 2, instead it was by a matter of thousands.

I can't imagine what the survivors are going through. The emotional baggage of losing not 1 but a few of their loved ones is simply unbearable.

Anyway, do watch the clip ( eng subtitles provided) as I feel that these reporters are much more awesome compared to those in Singapore.

Upon reaching home after today's tuition, I immediately switched on my computer to check my mails just incase any other hotels email-ed me their proposal.

And then, I found out that someone commented on my Facebook's wall. <:

To be frank, I don't really know him at all. Schoolmate I guess. ( But he must have been too excited in informing me this newly-found name that was why he typed wrongly)

Hi. 大家好. I am not an actor so I don't know what it is like to be facing so much media ( apparently blogging ).

But just yesterday, Ms Thang had a talk with me regarding the Peer Support Leaders (PSLs). Refer to this post.

She couldn't deny about feeling rather indignant about it however, she felt that this is my private blog and that I have every single right to voice out my opinions. At the same time, she took that blog post as a positive feedback and apologised to me on behalf of the PSLs.

Afterall, all that I wanted was an explanation, nothing more.

And I am exceedingly glad that at least someone from PSL finally did that.

SO NOW I AM OFFICIALLY QUITS WITH PSL.

Oh yes, I feel as if I am very blessed with warm-hearted teachers like Ms Suhaila, Mrs Tracy Lee, Mr Anthony Tan, Mrs Wan, and many many more. After the presentation they told us that we did a great job and gave us many more encouragements that was extremely useful at that point in time.

I just have a great affinity with kind teachers ( Tutors included).

There was once I had a quarrel with a female Chinese Tutor during my primary school days. She was demanding, fierce, unreasonable and totally unhelpful on aiding me. It was not even a month after I joined and I told her I will quit once my tuition sessions end.

Tutors like these should really count themselves lucky to be earning money through tuitioning. In this highly saturated tuition market Singapore, trust me, it is both convenient and easy to get a tutor. Except for the good ones, who are highly in demand.

Recently, I have a craze for snacks, exotic ones! Anyway, who loves to eat the same snacks daily?

Bei Teh So!

Maybe you have not heard of it (tat's why I call them exotic) but it is mad awesome. I love its sweet and sticky filling inside. Though I sincerely wish that its hard shell can one day become softer.

Wanted to take a picture of its interior but when I break it open, it is a mess. Oh well.

Next,

Tapioca cakes from Tampines Pasar Malam. 3 for $1.

I bought it for tuition today, regretted not buying more. To me, they are the right type of snacks for supper.

Another of the Pasar Malam treats, Takoyaki. 3 balls of it for $2.

Well, it is 30 cents cheaper than the ones I bought in Bugis, but I feel as though I have paid for 3 balls of flour. The chicken bits inside were so little. In fact, only a small rectangle of it.

Should have known better than to order from the stall that was manned by 2 malay girls. Takoyaki came from Japan right! Bah.

I am a big fan of takoyakis. Earlier this year during a CNY lunch at Sakae, I ordered more than 10 balls of takoyakis.

In my opinion, I feel that takoyakis are underated as it is really a great snack. In fact, the combination of the sauce and mayonnaise gives it the bbq taste and an added flavour while you nom on the soft takoyakis balls.

Even as I mention it, I can easily feel the urge to eat Takoyakis again!

The right one (Chicken Takoyakis) are mine while the left one (Sotong Takoyakis) are Yang Wenn's.

Felt so flourly full after eating them.

Had a peachy trip to Bugis Iluma, for the VERY FIRST time. I know I am very slow, but what to do, it can't be helped.

The shopping center was excessively spacious, but I prefer Ion Orchard over Iluma. For the obvious reasons.

Japanese Flavoured Ice Cream! I was so attracted to the Japanese Food in the animes I watch, especially their Ice Cream Crepe. (Google it)

In either way, Uzumaki has some really soft ice cream which, totally melts in your mouth. ( A healthier choice symbol is labelled with it as well! )

I wanted the Bubble Milk Tea, but it was sold out, again for the obvious reasons. -_-

Thus, I tried out their Open Sesame Ice Cream which is also not that bad!

( I didnt manage to snap any shots of my ice cream cos I was concentrating on finishing my ice cream fast! )

1 was totally a give away. Cos it was directly on top of the closed basket since the beginning. All they have to do was to insert 2 coins and the toy will drop.

But they generously gave it to me as my belated Valentine's day gift. Hahaah! Thanks.

This was the 2nd toy which they got by inserting the coin. It was supposed to have freckles on his cheeks but the beauty mode removed it away, skillfully.

This are 1/20 of the tokens Yang, Cadence and Eugene won from their jackpot of 2k tokens. Can't imagine how they win them but it is worth quite a lot you know!

$1 can change you 10 tokens, so 2k tokens can give you around $200.

However the seats were all occupied by people from all walks of life. We had to queue for more than half an hour just to get a seat.

How crazy can it be?

Both of them have jelly like beads in between the sweets, giving it an extra chewy boost. The Apple one tastes better, in my opinion.

I F-I-N-A-L-L-Y got my new camera.

It was on Thursday when I saw this camera ad, Samsung ,with Beauty Shot, retailing for only $119. It was pure craziness cos cameras with such modes are usually priced at, at least $200+.

And now, right in front of me was this advertisement. How can one not resist such great deals?

Furthermore, it comes with 11 other scene modes!

So right after school, I rushed back home to check up the reviews about this particular camera and all I found were nothing but good reviews!

All of the reviews were raving about the magical Beauty Shot. And with that, I rushed down to the store which is having the promotion.

So people, I ask of you all to join our wondrous movement and join us for just 1 hour switching off all lights, fans, electrical appliances.

Hai Sing Facts

Hello people! Lord News is here again. I'm gonna introduce another component in blogging, not the top three, but hai sing facts! Yes people, I am a hai sian. Continue to stay updated while more and more of my identity is revealed as clues.

First I would like to clarify some points just in case somebody tries to slap me for criticism or defamation. I do not, in anyway, judge any point I write in Hai Sing Facts. I only write what I encounter in sch, problems while trying to do something, and simply facts I know or learn. View with discretion. Okay, that being said, let's go on:

Lord New's Hai Sing Facts

1. While trying to surf the internet at the library or just use the programs installed in it, complications occur in form of so many administration restrictions. Even by opening a Microsoft Word on 1 occasion has been restricted.

2. The school computers in general (library, computer labs) are quite the crawling speed kind. Wondering is it internet or hardware disability? No judgment passed, just a fact as a factor of the sch, either good or bad, it's up to the reader to decide.

3. The canteen 'eat in moderation' is quite a health tip and we all liked it isn't it? When I went to one of the stalls, I could see the stall owner scoop a bowl of rice, then delicately brush some portions back into the rice barrel as I call it.

4. The late reporting time in is pushed back to 7.20am, then a reading program to start enriching english. While it may be beneficial and the student to profit, it is just like two sides to a coin, 1 heads & 1 tail, 1 good & 1 bad.

5. There have been rumors about Hai Sing planning to shift its location to other regions. During last year's CCA open hse, a few parents were hesitant about letting their child enter the sch for fear HSC might relocate to a remote or new neighborhood. There should have been a clear dictation to the public that the sch is shifting or staying. But somehow, if there was one, it did not went out that well.

Okay that is all. I shall leave this post in bite chunks, maybe more facts in next time. No offensive judgment or discrimination have been passed on and this applies to all other HSC Facts. If anyone has been offended by my words, please do not take it personally.

Lomography

Have been planning to buy a new camera soon, but recently I was infatuated with lomo-cameras! How can one withstand the uniqueness of lomography?

The pictures are special and none will be the same. But there are two types of lomo-cams.

1) Film
2) Digital

After doing my research on them, I found out that the pictures produced by the digital lomo-cams are of poorer quality than that of the film ones. :(

Is like, why can't digital lomo-cams be better?

Very tempted to buy the Nico-Digi with is small pocket sized keychain lomo-cam. The price wise is rather okay. I saw them retailing on blogshops for $89. Well, it is cheaper than most other cameras.

On the other hand, I am more interested in Casio Exilim cameras which have more modes to cater to my needs. The mode I like best is the Make Up mode, it will instantly beautify all of your pictures without the need of photoshopping.

So how?

I went on to youtube to find methods of artificially creating heavily vignetted pictures so that I can get my beautiful pictures being lomo-lised without the use of Lomo-cams. Here are some of the pictures I edited.

You just have to agree that it is special. Don't talk about its quality cos lomography is meant to have bad pictures. And that is why it stands out!

If this goes on, I may just become an expert lomographer! Ahem*

Hello people! It is Lord News, here to introduce a top three series that can be applied to many practical situations or events. Be warned however, some points are over exaggerated, so viewer discretion is advised.

As you people all know, the IR and the casino has been recently opened, 18 days to be exact from now, on the day of CNY / Valentine's Day. Many people has been arrested in relation to the casino. So, how do you, as a student / teenager / adult stand to gain from this? Well, let's view the first installment which is :

Lord News' Top Three Ways To Gain Money (a little counts as well)

1. Everyone knows that the fortune cat brings in money right? The one which hand keeps moving like a beckon for money to roll in. So, mass produce a T-shirt with the cat printed on it. Set up a shop outside the casino, with a banner ' Wear this shirt and gain a 20% luck boost! ' No one actually knows how much luck they have, so figures.

2. Everything in the theme park is extremely expensive, so be competitive and stock up thousands of packets of char kway tiao to sell there, 1 packet at cheapest $7.50 (believe me, some tourists do buy them).

3. Finally, the most practical method, get one of the jobs where you dress up as tweety bird or tasmanian devil. The costume type. This is the most easiest jobs you can earn money from there. Why? You do not have to talk, you can listen to your ipod in the suit while entertaining those children. If you ever find that it is too stuffy or hot, ask your boss for a extra large suit, and pack dry ice inside. That will bound to keep you chilled to the bone for hours.

Went to watch this romance flick the other day with Yan Ling, Cadence, Adeline and Yang. Initially I expected it to be a really touchy movie but it turned out otherwise. Instead, within the short span of merely 2 hours, I felt as if I have been with the characters through the 7 years.

However it was a little crazy cos they only dated for two weeks and wanted a house of their own already.

The main actor and actress.

Personally, I feel that the actress, Amanda , is the European version of our Asian - Angela Zhang Shao Han.

They have the same big eyes and body shape.

Should I start bring my camera to school again so that I can blog more?

Anyway, when I came back from my Tuition Center today, I board on this bus and there were empty seats at the back.

I, who didn't wear any spectacles at that point of time, sat beside this man, with a rather hip dressing. At first I thought he was okay, then he started to shake, and shake, and SHAKE.

It was madness you know, it was as if he was on drugs or something. Thankfully nothing serious happened. It definitely had to be that case or else I wouldn't be here blogging. Phew.

Okay I got to go now to finish up my undone homework before I am slaughtered tomorrow.

I have prepared the pictures long ago but didn't have the time to do an entry with them. So here I am now doing it! :D

1st:

I bought this super duper soft bread at 7-eleven the other day for $1.50. Its flavour is ...

Cheese!

I love the texture a lot ( as shown in the poor quality picture below )

But I could not exactly taste the cheese in it. More like noming on a soft piece of wheat.

Verdict: 3.5/5 stars

2nd:

London Choco Roll.

It has a layer of icing sugar which taste awesomely good. A downside is that the serving is very small. Perhaps their main target are the small children?

Thus this is, to me, a snack best for supper.

Verdict: 3.5/5 cos I would rather eat Honey Stars!

3rd:

Baby Wipes - $1.50 only. ( mad cheap I know but the quality is like a wet toilet paper )

I regretted choosing this as it is scented and the fragrance smells like the toilet in school. But I left it in class, for emergency.

Like bird shit stains, removing thick dust layers, clean newspaper-stained-black hand (which I would rather just go and wash them away).

$1.50 for 80 sheets. Looks like a big bargain to me.

Verdict on Quality: 1/5 stars

Overall Verdict: 3/5 stars

Having a really great time playing with clay this few days! hahhaha!

A few confessions to be made:

2) From the work I produce, I can guarantee that I am not a craftsman in my previous life. Try making something out of it yourself, it is mad difficult!

This Chinese New Year noticeboard judging is by far the best. The previous years were either pretty screwed up or bland and uninteresting at all.

But this year, it was FANTASTIC.

The 4-pretty-judges were throughly impressed with our skit and all, not forgetting our splendid table covers. Wonders about our chance of winning this competition.

Okay, EVEN if we don't win, it is still perfectly fine. Cos what matters most is about the fun we had, instead of the outcome. I believe we squeezed every possible minutes and seconds designing the board. ~~If the judges have eyes to see and heart to feel, they should let us win!~~

What I like about our class's skit:

1) It was hilarious and entertaining.

2) It was well-organised.

3) All of us were very cooperative and enthusiastic about it.

So perhaps, we can really win now!

Nice or not?!

Just created it a moment ago. :P

Having a difficult time to come out with the perfect design for the table cover. So most probably I will put the back ground in first and add the designs on slowly.

Hhahaha!

Okay, ending abruptly, I will promise to update more fulfilling entries in the future!

P/s: I came across a set of amazing excuses not to do homework,

1) I didn't do my history homework because i dont believe in dwelling on the past.

2) Why study history? Just let bygones be bygones!

3) A sudden gust of wind blew it out of my hand and i never saw it again.

4) I felt it wasn't challenging enough.

5) I didn't want to add to your already heavy workload.

6) My parents were sick last night, thus unable to do my homework for me. Dont worry, they have been suitably punished.

7) It was cloudy all day and my calculater is solar powered.

8) I dug around the yard but couldn't find the square roots i needed.

9) I had better things to do.

10) I made a paper plane out of it and it got hijacked.

11) Because I didn't want the other kids in the class to look bad.

12) We had homework?? *adds shocked face here*

I love number 6 the most.
